The Memorial Mass for Father Vincent R. Capodanno, MM, will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, in the Crypt Church of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, 400 Michigan Avenue, Northeast, Washington, D.C. His Excellency, the Most Reverend Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop for the United States Military Services, will be the main celebrant. This annual Mass is celebrated in memory of Father Capodanno, killed in Vietnam on September 4, 1967, as he aided embattled Marines. Father Capodanno posthumously received the Medal of Honor, and in May 2006 the Catholic Church officially proclaimed him a Servant of God, formally initiating his cause for beatification. The Father Vincent Capodanno Guild is the only official organization set up to promote the cause for canonization of Father Capodanno. For more information, visit www.CapodannoGuild.org. (Baltimore, MD) – Runners and walkers of all ages will lace up their sneakers for the 8th Annual Marian House Race to Embrace Independence 5K Run/Walk and One-Mile Family Fun Run. The 5K Race to Embrace Independence raises critical funds for Marian House, an independent non-profit located in the Better Waverly neighborhood of Baltimore City that works to provide housing and comprehensive support services to women recovering from homelessness, addiction, mental illness, incarceration and/or trauma. Marian House strives to support women moving from dependence to independence. This year’s event will feature something for everyone. In addition to the 5K race and One-Mile Fun Run, participants and their supporters will be able to enjoy the Race Village that will feature food, entertainment and activities for the entire family. Strollers are welcome. Registration for the race begins at 7:30 am and both events start at 9:00 am. The first 500 adults to register receive a Marian House 5K tech shirt. Children will also receive a t-shirt. On-site registration will be available; however, interested participants are encouraged to pre-register. CH_ _ CH…What’s Missing…You Are! Return: A program for Inactive Catholics. Do you know any baptized Catholics who no longer come to church? Are you a baptized Catholic who, for whatever reason, no longer receives Eucharist? Beginning Monday November 14th at 7:30 p.m. there will be a program – really a journey – to examine coming back to the Eucharistic Table. People stop receiving Eucharist or stop coming to church for many reasons and at all ages: something happened and the church hurt you, family circumstances, divorce and remarriage, conflict with individuals or institution. This program is for you! The attitude will be one of “no strings attached” There will be no pressure, no judgements, and no set of expectations of you.
