Little Flower principal made an impact

The obituary (CR, Nov. 10) for Sister Francine McDermott failed to mention that she was the principal of Shrine of the Little Flower School in Baltimore, nor does it acknowledge the love and care with which she carried out that service. As a parent of children at Little Flower during her “reign” as principal, I was always aware that she held on to what she believed was the right choice for the school and its students, even when she met with opposition.

Father Charles Lafferty loved to go all out on Halloween.
As pastor of St. Ignatius in Hickory from 1979 to 1992, the priest dressed up in a black cape and turned an old attic into a “haunted house” that delighted parish children.
Father Hemler, Fallston pastor, dies at 74

Father Edward B. Hemler, longtime pastor of St. Mark in Fallston and a former leader in Catholic education, died July 24 after suffering years of declining health. A 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass was to be celebrated at St. Mark July 28.

A funeral Mass for Jesuit Father Edward H. Nash was offered May 16 at Manresa Hall near Philadelphia. Father Nash died May 11. He was 94.
